Unicorn enterprises are key engines driving the economy toward “innovation” and “quality” leaps. On December 11, the first National Unicorn Enterprise Competition Finals kicked off at the Ningbo High-Tech Zone, spanning four days with the theme “Gathering Innovation Elements, Leading a Future of New Quality.” This national competition targeted enterprises with “high innovation capability, high growth potential, high integration of industries, and high valuation prospects,” featuring intense competition in two directions: “Cultivation and Expansion of Emerging Industries” and “Forward-Looking Layout of Future Industries.”
As the first high-profile event co-organized by the Torch High-Tech Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Chinese Institute of Electronics, the competition attracted over 1,500 enterprises and involved rigorous evaluations by more than 50 experts. It serves as a core indicator for fostering new quality productive forces, with the award itself being an authoritative certification of a company’s innovation strength and development potential. After two rounds of expert reviews and recommendations, 140 enterprises nationwide advanced to the four-day finals in Ningbo. Representing Reliance, co-founder and Product Director Mr. Wang Chitang participated in the finals, which involved on-site presentations and expert Q&A sessions. After group evaluations by over 50 judges based on innovation capability, growth trends, industry integration, valuation potential, and key financial indicators, the winners of the 2025 National Unicorn Enterprise Competition Finals Excellence Award and special awards were selected.
At this competition, Reliance secured the Excellence Award with its formidable strengths, showcasing Reliance’s leading potential in the new energy sector. The judging panel evaluated enterprises’ comprehensive capabilities against stringent criteria, and Reliance’s breakthrough stems from its deep commitment to technological innovation. Led by Chen Xuan, a “Longcheng Talent,” the team focuses on “empowering green energy with digital intelligence,” building a unique and hard-to-replicate core competitiveness that aligns perfectly with the competition’s goal of fostering new quality productive forces.
Top-tier talent is the foundation of innovation. Reliance has established a high-level talent structure led by world-renowned lithium battery experts and comprising Ph.D. and master’s graduates from top domestic and international institutions.
Full-chain innovation solidifies barriers. R&D comprehensively covers materials, electrochemical mechanisms, and more. Since its establishment in Changzhou at the end of 2022, Reliance has filed over 300 patent applications, with 17 invention patents and 27 utility model patents authorized, making it a benchmark enterprise in the regional new energy industry.
Core technologies achieve industry “leadership.” Since its inception, Reliance has focused on “technological breakthroughs driving industrial upgrades,” rapidly progressing from R&D to industrialization:
• In 2023, Reliance successfully developed high-energy-density tabless cylindrical cells, achieving breakthroughs such as 80% fast charging in 10 minutes and normal discharge at -40°C low temperatures, with related technical parameters reaching industry-leading levels. • In March 2025, Reliance announced the world’s first mass production of the tabless RS50 battery cell at the China International Hardware Expo in Shanghai. • In May 2025, Reliance globally launched the tabless RS60/RH60 battery cells at the China International Battery Technology Exhibition (CIBF2025) in Shenzhen.
